UCEPROTECTL2 blacklist removal guide

By Eric J · Updated March 4th, 2026 · Troubleshooting & Recovery

Overview

What is the UCEPROTECTL2 blacklist?

UCEPROTECTL2 (dnsbl-2.uceprotect.net) is uceprotect.net’s second level zone. If your IP falls within this large range of IP addresses, it typically means you have been there has been an un-remediated escalation of a level one listing on IP addresses in proximity to the ones used for your delivery. Once the problematic IP addresses in this range are corrected the delisting should occur within seven days.

How it works

UCEPROTECTL2 lists IPs based on the following criteria:

  • An escalation from a UCEPROTECTL1 listing that continues beyond 7 days.
  • A level two listing may increase the range of IP addresses into the tens of thousands.

Listings often occur when multiple IPs within a subnet show signs of spam activity, poor hygiene, or unresponsiveness to previous flags. These actions trigger the UCEPROTECT network to list the entire IP range rather than just individual IPs. This is often due to service providers failing to prevent abuse across their infrastructure.

How do I get off the UCEPROTECTL2 blacklist?

There is no way to submit manual removal requests for UCEPROTECTL2. The automatic removal process is managed by UCEPROTECT directly. Here’s how to improve your odds of being automatically delisted:

  1. Identify and isolate any compromised accounts or unnecessary services causing risk.
  2. Ensure your email server is not running an open relay or vulnerable mailing scripts.
  3. Remove or clean any purchased lists or contacts that generate unwanted emails or land in spam folders.
  4. Improve your sender reputation with inbox providers by monitoring email performance, bounce rates, and spam complaints.
  5. Contact your hosting provider or ISP. They are responsible for managing abuse across their network and may be able to reassign you to a cleaner IP range.
  6. Continue regularly monitoring your IP status across blacklist operators to avoid future listings.

UCEPROTECTL2 listings are removed automatically once the related UCEPROTECTL1 infractions across your entire range are resolved. If no new issues arise, the uceprotectl2 blacklist removal process usually completes within 7 days.

Why IPs Get Blacklisted on UCEPROTECTL2

The UCEPROTECTL2 blacklist flags entire IP ranges when multiple individual IP addresses show signs of sending spam or suspicious activity. Unlike level 1 listings, level 2 focuses on larger IP ranges that often belong to hosting providers, ISPs, or shared hosts.

These ranges may include dynamically assigned IP addresses, meaning your mail server could be affected simply because it resides near other offending addresses. If spam traps, unsecured mailing scripts, or misconfigured mail transfer agents are detected, your IP could be impacted without direct wrongdoing.

Steps to Check if Your IP is Blacklisted

To perform a UCEPROTECTL2 blacklist check, go to the uceprotect.net search bar. Enter your IP to verify its blacklist status and assess your IP range or individual IPs. Keep in mind that results may also include flags from other blacklists, so it's good practice to check comprehensively.
